Tara Cowell-Plain
Tara Cowell-Plain has been working in the film industry for 25 years in a variety of roles.
She began directing long-format in 2020, with the suspense-thriller, His Deadly Affair, (aka Swipe Right)
picked up by Lifetime and received considerable positive audience reviews.
Tara followed this up with the 2021 romantic comedy, Be Mine, which has been sold to
Superchannel in Canada and is slated for 2022 Valentine’s Day release in the US.
Tara is currently directing her third film, Blue Moon Ball, in Los Angeles, 2021.
Tara is a previous recipient of the NSI National Drama Prize for writing and directing her short film, Toll,
which was released in Canada theatrically through Cineplex. She has a long and prolific background as
an Executive Producer and Line Producer on over 50 Film and Television shows for Lions Gate, SKG,
Sony, E1, HBO, NBC, BBC, Hallmark and Lifetime, among others.
Most recently, Tara worked with Dallas Sonnier of Cinestate on Craig Zahler’s, Dragged Across Concrete,
for Lions Gate with Mel Gibson and Vince Vaughn, and with Highland Film Group on Lin Oeding’s feature,
Braven, starring Jason Momoa and Stephen Lang.
Based in Vancouver, BC. Tara has substantive skills in story and script development, as well as all aspects of production and post-production. She is fully immersed in Canadian tax credit management, local banking, and fully bondable.
